There are perhaps a dozen which don’t have this slight dusting, which look like Kohaku, and which provide a good reference point for the developing Goshiki.
Once again we are selecting for body shape, skin quality, contrast, balance and colour. I have taken a few pictures for you again and managed to get one of the Maruten Goshiki which was pointed out from a group of Goshiki that I posted after second selection.
It is difficult to explain just how subtle the development of the Goshiki is and it is difficult to see even in the two close up shots, but it is perhaps easier to see in the group shot. There are one or two Koromo evident also where that slight grainy texture is on the hi only.
We put back around 400 in the mud pond to grow on until the autumn harvest.
