Description

BATCH 5 SOLD OUT. We currently do not know if we will have 1 further batch of fry to sell this year or not. We will update you as soon as we know more.

These JUMBO fry are the faster-growing fry, that have been selected due to their fast growth. They are up to TWICE the size of our normal fry, at the same age!

Batch 5 Jumbo Fry are a random selection from the following varieties: Kujaku, Doitsu Kujaku, Aka Matsuba, Kin Matsuba, Doitsu Kin Matsuba, Gin Matsuba, Doitsu Gin Matsuba.

Bloodline: Tamaura

You will get a random mix from the list above, and there is no guarantee you will get one of everything. If you want to order specific mixes, we recommend you buy our larger Small Koi Mixes, where this option is available.

Please note Fry orders MUST be shipped for arrival on Wednesday or Friday. Fish are scheduled to arrive between 7:00am and 2:00pm, and you MUST be in to sign for the fish (Koi delivery is £29.95). Collection must be made on either Friday or Saturday.

Fry have been acclimatised from the mud ponds, however, we advise you salt the tank/pond where you put the fry to 0.75% to help them acclimatise to their new environment. Hold the salt at this level for 1 week, then slowly bring it down with your regular weekly water changes.

They need a suitable tank or pond away from larger fish, good filtration and water quality are essential.  Fry are delicate and will not cope with poor water parameters so please ensure you have adequate filtration systems to cope. Once you have received delivery or collected, it is your responsibility to provide a good quality environment big enough for these to grow on.

Koi are measured from the tip of their nose to the end of the tail. Please note sizing of fry is approximate.

The demand for our Jumbo Koi Fry is sky-high, as a result each batch we release is expected to sell out the same day they go on sale. We experienced record demand in 2026, with one batch selling out in under 4 minutes! Over the course of the summer we tend to release 4 or 5 batches of Fry, so you'll get a few chance at securing some Fry. We always prewarn customers when each batch is due on sale, via social media or our mailing list.

Fry Food:

Orders with 'YES' to food will come with 700g of Fry Food, this is the same food they are already eating on the farm. The food size will be appropriate to the Koi Fry you are buying.

Are you crushing up your food to feed to your Koi fry? Do you know the impacts this will have?

Feeding your fry crushed-up food (even “high protein” diets) can have a detrimental impact on the growth of your Koi fry. Most commonly used feeds on the market contain around 33-40% protein, however, this is inadequate for the needs of developing fry, regularly leading to bent spines, tails, curled out gill covers and incorrectly developed fins.

Our fry food, which we use each year to raise around 500,000 fry, contains 56% protein. Not only does this specific fry food have a higher protein content, but it also has higher vitamin and mineral levels to aid the fry in bone development.

To avoid any development issues, high-quality fry food is a must! We advise feeding this diet until the fish are at least 2” inches. Even after this stage, a high-quality diet of at least 40% protein is still required to ensure the best growth and development of your fish.

Very disappointed 😞

If I'm being completely honest, I wasn't impressed . My first batch of 50 jumbo fry was stunning all uniform and decent patterns and size . Compared to the 100 jumbo, there was only 1 that looked decent . They were a lot smaller than my original order . I personally wouldn't have labelled them jumbo fry as the one fish that stood out i would have called Jumbo . The rest were tiny . Mostly made up of very bland hi utsuri. I was really excited to receive my second batch but in hindsight I wish I hadn't as compared to my first batch they were very poor quality

I’m sorry that you were disappointed with your Batch 3 Jumbo fry. Batch 3 Fry & Jumbo Fry were “a random selection from the following varieties: Showa, Hi Utsuri, Kohaku, Shiro Utsuri, Benigoi, Shiro Muji”. All of these varieties are in the mix that you received. Showa fry (or any Koi with utsuri black) change quite considerably as they grow. That’s probably why they are my favourite variety. They are the most unpredictable of all the varieties when it comes to pattern development and can change beyond recognition in quite a short space of time. You will end up with some really pretty little Koi. As for the size, our jumbo fry are described as being between 1.5 – 2 inches. Some batches may be closer to 2 inches and some may be closer to 1.5 inches. It can visually make quite a difference when a fish is small. However, they are the faster growing ones from the batch, so they have the potential to grow really well for you. I hope you will enjoy seeing them grow and develop.

Koi fry

This is the second batch of Koi fry purchased from Cuttlebrook. The latest batch i’ve had now for a couple of weeks and they are doing really well. No fatalities they are very active and feeding well i’m looking forward to seeing how they develop.

I was well impressed with the fish that I got and I was extra impressed that there was another

I was well impressed with the fish that I got and I was extra impressed that there was another extra 29 fish more than I’d ordered thank you. I would like to know when to put them on to bigger fish food. Many thanks!
