Aqua-Sed
£19.99
Description
Aqua-Sed is based on the tried and tested active ingredient 2-phenoxyethanol, and it comes in a 250ml bottle with an easy-to-use measuring pump. It's a liquid with a very wide safety margin and has been used for anaesthetising fish for many years (reports go back to 1943). Please note that any anaesthetic a carries a risk, sometimes because the fish may have an unknown/undiagnosed problem which may cause an issue. For this reason we do not suggest the routine use of anaesthesia of koi carp for a general check-up.
How to use/dosage
The dose is dependent on water volume, not on fish size. Do not put Aqua-Sed™ into the main pond or tank, it is for use in small volumes once fish are captured. Using the pump, measure the required amount into water (1 pump/litre) into a suitably sized anaesthetic container. Gently mix the slightly oily liquid into the water. Transfer the fish into this solution and observe carefully. Some initial excitement is normal in some species. The fish itself pumps the drug across its gills, administering the dose until effective. Observe the fish throughout and remove the fish when it is suitably anaesthetised for the procedure. As a general guide, gill cover movements should be slowed but not completely stopped. Following the procedure return the fish to untreated water for recovery.
Q. What temperature should the water be when using Aqua-Sed?A. Aqua-Sed will work in water of all temperatures and there is no minimum temperature it can be used at. At lower temperatures it will take longer to take effect, so please be aware of this.
Q. How should I store Aqua-Sed?A. Aqua-Sed should be stored at room temperature to prevent the liquid from becoming too thick to mix with the water.
Q. Can I use Aqua-Sed to sedate amphibians?A. Yes, you can use Aqua-Sed to sedate amphibians at the same dosage as stated for fish, However great care should be taken and under veterinary supervision as the process will take effect much quicker due to the product being absorbed through the skin.

HI-711-25 Reagents for HI-711 Total Chlorine Pocket Checker
£14.99
This 25 pack of reagents is for use with the HI-711-25 Reagents for HI-711 Total Chlorine Pocket Checker
The HI-711-25 are high-quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate measurements with their Total Chlorine Checker® HC - HI-711. These reagents follow the DPD Method in which the reaction between chlorine and reagent causes a pink tint in the sample. By simply adding the packet of HI-711-25 reagent to the sample, the reaction will take place and the HI-711 will determine the concentration from the colour that is produced. The results will be displayed in ppm (mg/L) of total chlorine. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected range of 0.00 to 3.50 ppm (mg/L) total chlorine.
Tip for an accurate measurement
It is important that the sample does not contain any debris.
Whenever the cuvette is placed into the measurement cell, it must be dry outside and completely free of fingerprints, oil or dirt. Wipe it thoroughly with HI-731318 or a lint-free cloth prior to insertion.
Shaking the cuvette can generate bubbles, causing higher readings. To obtain accurate measurements, remove such bubbles by swirling or by gently tapping the cuvette.
Do not let the reacted sample stand for too long after reagent is added, or accuracy will be lost.
After the reading, it is important to discard the sample immediately, otherwise the glass might become permanently stained.

Cetus Sieve
from £62.85
Pre-filter to remove waste & debris
The Cetus sieve is a bow screen pre-filter, made using the latest rotational molding technology. With all of its benefits and build quality, it is undoubtedly the best of its kind on the market today, regarding quality and performance! It is designed to efficiently and effectively remove large amounts of mechanical waste from a pond. It can be set-up gravity OR pump fed and has many benefits over the original bow screen technology.
Overview
The Cetus Sieve is a self-adjusting sieve which can be installed either gravity fed or pump fed. The Cetus Sieve enables your pond water to be filtered of large amounts of waste and debris before the water enters your current filter system. This process is commonly referred to as “pre-filtering”. The Cetus Sieve can also be used as a stand-alone unit to remove leaves and other floating debris from your pond via a surface skimmer. The Cetus Sieve will efficiently and effectively remove large amounts of mechanical waste from your pond. The Cetus Sieve is compatible with all filtration systems, however it is the perfect prefilter for the Evolution Aqua Nexus filter range. For gravity fed systems the Cetus Sieve has a weir which will automatically adjust to the flow rate of your pump. (Max flow rate 18,000 litres/hr) When the Cetus Sieve is used in front of any other biological/mechanical filter the period in between cleaning will be extended. The biological process is improved by the removal of organic matter which would consume oxygen and leach ammonia and other compounds into the water.

How the Cetus Sieve works
Installing the Cetus Sieve The Cetus Sieve has a variable inlet height using the unique patented Pondflow regulation system – for use when gravity fed. This allows water levels within the pond to drop without causing the circulating pump to be starved of water. The Cetus will allow a skimmer or a bottom drain to accept vast amounts of waste without excessive cleaning needed to be carried out. The water must then be pumped to either a normal filter above pond level (Nexus Eazy/Eazy Pod) or to a pressurised filter.
If pump fed, the sieve is placed above pond water level and then the exit water is gravity dropped into your main filter.
The Cetus sieve is a bow screen pre-filter, suitable for pre-filtration of any biological filter including all pressured filters. It is advised that all pressurised filters be pre-filtered using a Cetus to reduce excessive backwashing and maintenance due to heavy solids.

Evolution Aqua Tempest Polisher
£274.95
Innovative Polisher For Ponds
The NEW Tempest Filter is an innovative polishing system for ponds. The Tempest Filter uses our latest filtration media, K+Media, to deliver crystal clear, healthy water.
Designed to be used in conjunction with any filtration system, the Tempest Filter offers additional mechanical and biological filtration. The Tempest Filter can be installed on a variety of set-ups and can be used on quarantine systems or as astandalone filter on smaller ponds up to 5,000 Litres / 1,100 Gallons.
Independently Tested Filter Media
Using Evolution Aqua’s K+Media as the filter media, particles down to one micron can be filtered. On a single pass, testing has proven our media capable of removing all particles down to 25 micron when used at the optimum flow rate. Not only that, K+Media is the result of extensive research and development and is moulded with minerals for faster maturation times.
Evolution Aqua filter media has been independently tested by Cranfield University and the IFTS (Institut de la Filtration et des Techniques Séparatives). IFTS International Filter Testing Services is the international reference for solid-liquid separation. Founded in 1981, IFTS is an independently regulated, ISO 17025 accredited, laboratory and research center focusing on liquid filtration and separation science. IFTS quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
How The Tempest Filter Works
Water is pumped up through the Tempest Filter. The K+Media moves to the top of the filter, becoming a mechanical barrier that traps debris as it flows through the system. Waste is trapped in the K+Media until the cleaning cycle dislodges it and it gets flushed away.
How To Clean The Tempest Filter
The Tempest Filter can be cleaned in matter of minutes, by simply turning the pump off, closing slide valves and opening the waste valve tap.

Installing the Tempest Filter
There are a number of ways the Tempest Filter can be installed on your pond system. Below are some typical installation ideas.
PLEASE NOTE: The slide valves fitted to the Tempest Filter allow connection to 1½” pressure pipe. If installing the Tempest Filter using flexible hose you will need to fit a reducing sleeve (EA Code: M35-050) and a 1½” solvent weld stepped hosetail (EA Code: HOSETAIL15) inside each slide valve.
To allow the Tempest Filter to give the best performance, it is important that the flow rate is no more than the 5,000 litres per hour. Some of the installation examples show aby-pass that will enable you to increase the flow through the pond.
TYPICAL INSTALLATION WITH A GRAVITY-FED FILTER
You can install a Tempest Filter after a primary filter on a gravity-fed set-up, such as the Nexus+, and after a UV Clarifier, such as an evoUV. The slide valves on the Tempest Filter enable connection to 1½” pressure pipe.
The installation example shown below has a by-pass that will enable you to increase the flow through your pond while maintaining the optimum flow through the Tempest Filter. Installing ball valves on the pipe work will help you regulate the flow. The return from the Tempest can go back to the centre of your Nexus+ or back into the pond.
TYPICAL INSTALLATION ON A PRESSURISED SYSTEM
You can install a Tempest Filter on a pressurised system with a K1 Micro Bead, Nexus+, EazyPod.
The return from the Tempest and the K1 Micro Bead go back to the pond.
TYPICAL STANDALONE TEMPEST FILTER INSTALLATION
You can install a Tempest Filter on a quarantine system, or a standalone pond up to 5,000 litres, at the side of a pond or above the pond.
The slide valves on the Tempest Filter enable connection to 1½” pressure pipe. If installing the Tempest Filter using flexible hose you will need to fit a reducing sleeve (EA Code: M35-050) and a 1½” solvent stepped hosetail (EA Code: HOSETAIL15) inside each slide valve.
TYPICAL SKIMMER LINE INSTALLATION
You can install a Tempest Filter on a skimmer line.
The slide valves on the Tempest Filter enable connection to 1½” pressure pipe. If installing the Tempest Filter using flexible hose you will need to fit a reducing sleeve(EA Code: M35-050) and a 1½” solvent stepped hosetail (EA Code: HOSETAIL15) inside each slide valve.
MODULAR TEMPEST FILTER INSTALLATION
On larger systems that require a higher flow rate, multiple Tempest Filters can be installed in a modular system.
It is important that each Tempest Filter can be isolated using the slide valves so that cleaning can be carried out independently. Although on the installation diagram below we show two filters into one return line, independent return lines will allow you to observe the flow rate through both Tempest Filters and balance accordingly.

New advanced filtration media
Plastic media, for use in biological pond filters - specifically in moving bed bio reactors, was pioneered by Evolution Aqua, some 20 years ago. In recent years, other plastic media have come onto the market, usually with the aim of trying to get more and more surface area. However, one drawback to using plastic media has always been the time it takes to establish a stable biofilm – essential for good filtration.
After many years of research, Evolution Aqua have now developed a new media that not only gives class leading surface area, but also overcomes the problem of long maturation times.
K+Media is designed and manufactured in the UK by Evolution Aqua. This advanced media, with its innovative design, and class leading surface area provides enhanced biological and mechanical filtration.
As Evolution Aqua extrude K+Media, Minerals and Enzymes are added to the raw material. The result of this process, unique to Evolution Aqua, is a filtration media that not only outperforms most of its competitors due to its large protected surface area, but also answers the problem of how to speed up the time taken to mature your filter.

How the EazyPod Complete works
Water from the pond enters the EazyPod Complete via the inlet, cascading around the 18 Watt UV-C bulb, where any algae will be exposed to the UV-C radiation.
The water then flows around the circumference of the outer chamber of the EazyPod Complete, passing through the stainless steel grill causing many of the larger solids to be filtered out and settle in the base of the outer chamber. This is the first stage of mechanical filtration.
As water enters the central chamber, through the stainless steel grill, the fine smaller solids become trapped in the mass of K1 Micro. Bio-films build up on the protected surface area within each piece of media, allowing biological filtration to take place.
After passing through the K1 Micro, the clean water then rises and overflows into the inner return pipe and flows back to the pond via the outlet.
The EazyPod Complete is incredibly simple to clean. The connected air pump is used during the cleaning cycle to agitate the K1 Micro to free up any debris and waste that has built up within the filter.
All EazyPod Complete models are supplied with a 70 litre per minute air pump and accessory kit.

The Nexus320+ and Nexus220+ filters now come with a new filter media called K+Media in the moving bed outer chamber for vastly improved biological filtration and faster filter maturation. The new Nexus+ filters are also supplied “auto ready”, with factory fitted fixings already in place, making it even easier to upgrade to the Nexus Automatic Cleaning System.

How the Nexus+ Works
The Nexus+ filter is an innovative biological and mechanical filter system in one. Water from the pond enters the Nexus+ via the inlet into the inner chamber which works as a vortex allowing larger solids to settle out. The water then passes through Eazy filter, where finer particles are removed at the mechanical stage of filtration, thanks to the static bed of K1 Micro filter media. The mechanically clean water then passes to the outside chamber of the Nexus+ where the new K+Media Moving Bed is located for biological treatment prior to being returned to the pond. At this stage, biological breakdown occurs through different strains of bacteria and filter feeders living on the vast protected surface area of each piece of the K+Media. These bacteria convert Ammonia and Nitrite into less harmful Nitrate. Water then passes through the exit grill into the outlet, returning back to the pond.
Nexus+ Dimensions
Installing the Nexus+
The Nexus+ MUST be installed on a solid, level base, a minimum of 1.2 metres x 1 metre. Failure to do this will cause irreparable damage to the filter and will therefore invalidate your warranty.
GRAVITY-FED INSTALLATIONS
By this we mean that your pump is going to be used to return the filtered water to the pond and therefore your filter will be supplied by gravity via a larger diameter pipe. In this situation the water level in the filter will be at the same level as the pond.
PUMP-FED INSTALLATIONS
By this we mean that if your pump is going to be used to supply the water to the filter, and the filtered water then returns back into your pond via gravity, i.e. down a waterfall, or through a large diameter pipe, this is referred to as PUMP FED (i.e. the water is fed to the filter using a pump).

Minerals added for faster filter maturation
During the extrusion process, Evolution Aqua add a range of minerals, along with magnesium, calcium, enzymes and salt to the raw material that is used to manufacture K+Media. The result means that K+Media will mature much faster than many other types of media.
- The addition of these minerals creates a rough surface on the media. This textured surface has a microscopic honeycomb of peaks and craters that allow waste particles to collect, and nitrifying bacteria to form.
- The minerals act as a food source for the bacteria, helping the bacteria to develop and multiply at a faster rate, further improving maturation times.
- Calcium alone has proven advantages for developing and maintaining effective bio-films.
- The enzymes that are added also help to make the media “sticky” so waste particles can adhere to media easier.
- Salt is added during the extrusion process, which is dissolved during the cooling process, leaving a rough surface on which bio-film can easily adhere.
Increased surface area
With a new shape and profile, K+Media has also been designed to have an increased and class leading surface area, meaning an overall surface area of 1,350m2 per m3. More importantly for biological filtration, the protected surface area of K+Media is 1,025m2 per m3. This allows a stable bio-film to form and remain intact when used in moving bed biological filtration, as in the new Nexus+.
Stable bio-film development
The shape of K+Media optimises the amount of “quiet zones” within the media where a stable bio-film can develop. Whilst K+Media keeps the integral profile of K1 Media at its core, there is an extra layer of cells and fins around the outside of each piece that enable microscopic organisms such as Rotifers and Vorticella to thrive. This is an additional benefit as competitor media do not have such “quiet zones” that would allow these higher lifeforms of filter feeders to develop. The bacteria and organisms that form within the bio-film ensure the media delivers optimum levels of biological filtration in the moving bed, which has been proven filtration technology for many years in the fishkeeping hobby.
Use with PURE Pond products
Evolution Aqua also recommend using K+Media in combination with the PURE Pond and PURE+ Filter Start Gel to boost bacteria levels which in turn will stick to the media and speed up the maturation process even more.
Do I need an airpump for NexusPlus?
Yes, it powers the moving bed biological filter and is also vital to the cleaning process. You need an Evolution Aqua Air Pump 75 for a Nexus 220 and an Air Pump 95 for a Nexus 320. If you increase the amount of media in the outer chamber you may well need a more powerful airpump.
The correct size airpump to enable the filter media to move is detailed in the below:
50 - 75 litres = Use an Air Pump 75
75 - 100 litres = Use an Air Pump 95
100 - 150 litres = Use an Air Pump 130
150 - 300 litres = Use an Air Pump 150
